Clark-Lindsey was a dream of Ethel Clark and Maude Neva Lindsey, sisters who directed that their estate be placed in trust for the establishment of a “home for the elderly.”

The sisters envisioned Clark-Lindsey as a home in which one would want to live – a place of congenial and secure surroundings with the availability of quality health care. University of Illinois professor Charles Stewart found considerable support for the plan among other faculty members who wished to maintain professional and other local ties after retirement.

Officials broke ground on March 20, 1977, with the first residents taking occupancy of their apartments in October 1978. Today, the Clark-Lindsey campus spans nearly 28 acres of prairie lands, boasting nearly 140 apartments, four guest suites and more than 250 residents. Meadowbrook Health Center offers 116 licensed beds for continuing care.

Our commitment to quality living continues with a state-of-the-art library, multi-craft workshop, secure residential storage area and renovated décor for our active community.
